Sciton Laser

Sciton Laser treatments are used to treat sun damage, age spots, small facial veins that cause redness and other skin conditions, such as acne, uneven skin texture, unwanted hair and freckles. Sciton Laser treatments work by heating targeted areas of the upper layers of the skin with an intense pulsed light, or IPL. The absorbed heat causes collagen stimulation, restoring the skin to a natural firmness and color. The energy from the Sciton Laser also eliminates fine vessels that cause redness and reduces the melanin that creates unwanted pigmented lesions.

What happens during the Sciton Laser procedure?
During the procedure, the patient’s eyes are protected by special glasses. A topical anesthesia may be applied to treat more sensitive areas of the skin. Most patients report that the laser treatment feels similar to being snapped with a rubber band. This sensation is caused by the laser energy being absorbed into the skin. The procedure typically takes no more than 30 minutes, and some procedures only take a few minutes. After the procedure, the skin feels softer, and pores are less visible. Some patients may need more than one treatment for optimum results.

When can normal activities be resumed after the procedure?
Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure.

Is there any pain after the procedure?
The treated skin may have some redness for a few hours after the procedure. Areas of pigmented skin may become dark, then fade and flake. Patients may be required to use special skin care products after the procedure to ensure proper healing. During the healing process, the skin may be sensitive to sunlight. Patients should use sunscreen and protect their skin from direct sunlight until the treated area has fully healed.
